Foundry Engineering Intern

Position Purpose:

As a Foundry Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to learn the intricacies of metal casting operations while contributing to process improvement initiatives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn foundry operations including melting, pouring, molding, and finishing processes for stainless steel castings 
  • Conduct time studies to analyze production efficiency and identify areas for improvement 
  • Assist in developing and updating product costing models
  • Participate in quality control processes and documentation 
  • Support engineering projects focused on process optimization and waste reduction 
  • Collaborate with production teams to gather data and implement improvements 
  • Document findings and present recommendations to management

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or related field)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience 
  • Coursework in materials science, metallurgy, or manufacturing processes 
  • Experience with statistical analysis and process improvement methodologies 
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles 
  • AutoCAD or similar CAD software experience

Additional Information

  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday
  • This position requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting in a manufacturing environment
  • Steel-toed safety shoes and other PPE will be provided
