Community Manager Intern

zhuzh is a brand dedicated to preserving the stories, artisans, and techniques of Africa and the African Diaspora through fashion. We aim to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary fashion, all while advocating for sustainability and cultural preservation. At zhuzh, we work closely with artisans, collaborate on community initiatives such as workshops, and drive projects like costume design, all while celebrating cultural heritage and sustainability.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Community Manager Intern to join our team. This position will play a key role in building and engaging zhuzh’s online community, helping us grow our following, and maintaining meaningful relationships with our audience across digital platforms.

Position Overview

As a Community Manager Intern, you will be responsible for fostering a positive and engaging online presence for zhuzh. You will help shape our brand voice, engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and contribute to the development of our digital community strategy. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community management, social media engagement, and brand building within a fast-growing and mission-driven fashion brand.

What You’ll Do

Engage with our community across social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, building relationships and fostering meaningful interactions.

Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and friendly manner, ensuring that all communication is on-brand.

Create and curate content that encourages engagement, including interactive posts, polls, and discussions that drive conversation.

Collaborate with the content creator to develop content that aligns with our mission and speaks to the zhuzhcommunity’s interests.

Help manage online campaigns and community-driven initiatives, ensuring they resonate with our target audience.

Assist in identifying and reaching out to potential brand ambassadors, influencers, or collaborators who align with zhuzh’s mission.

Analyze engagement metrics and help adjust strategies to ensure community growth and high engagement.

Support the team in brainstorming creative ways to enhance community engagement and grow zhuzh’s following across all digital platforms.

Social media savvy: You have a strong understanding of social media platforms and trends, with a good eye for content that resonates.

Creative and strategic: You’re able to come up with fresh ideas to engage the community and strategize for community growth.

Proactive and motivated: You are comfortable taking initiative and working independently, while also collaborating effectively with others.

Passionate about fashion, culture, and sustainability: You share zhuzh's values of cultural preservation, sustainability, and supporting artisans, and you’re excited to help spread the word.

Detail-oriented and organized: You manage multiple tasks with ease and are able to track progress toward goals and measure success.

Requirements

Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.) and digital communication tools.

Passion for sustainability, culture, and fashion.

Experience in community engagement or customer service is a plus.

Must be available to commit 10-15 hours per week.

Must be proactive, organized, and able to work independently.

A positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow with zhuzh.
