Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Intern (Pack STEM, Clasen Quality Chocolate, Summer '25)

Internship Description: 

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manufacturing Intern will work with the Director of Operations on a variety of manufacturing processes and lines to identify opportunities for improvement through the use of data collection software, reports, and operator interviews.  After identifying the key issues, one or more of those issues will be selected for a CI project of which the intern will be responsible for improving with the help of the CQC Team. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Complete 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 12 weeks total) 
  • Research and review report data 
  • Interview Plant Operators 
  • Collect data on the plant floor 
  • Enter data into various platforms 
  • Problem solve 
  • Work directly with Plant Operators to implement solutions to problems 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

The goal of this position is to identify key issues within the facility that are holding back production and then taking the highest priority issue(s) and using CI methodology to address those issue(s).  The goal is to see the full life cycle of a continuous improvement project. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester  
  • Spring ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program 
  • Experience or education in continuous improvement methodology 
  • Ability to work on the plant floor (Can be hot 85-90 F), work will be completed onsite and no remote work

  • Likes to work in a group environment 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern: 

Applicants will be required to work a standard 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule, Monday - Friday, except holidays. 

 

Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 360 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
