Organization Overview:
The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce (LVECC) is a non-profit business development organization serving one of the most unique and thriving business districts on Chicago’s north side. As the Sole Service Provider for Special Service Area #8, LVECC manages a wide range of programs, including sidewalk maintenance, beautification and streetscape improvements, area marketing and promotions, and storefront improvement initiatives. Additional Chamber activities include technical assistance seminars, networking events, group discount programs, business development, and community relations.
Position Overview:
The Marketing Intern will assist with district-wide promotions, including promoting LVECC initiatives, marketing member businesses, managing web-based promotions (social media, e-newsletters, mobile applications, websites), and supporting special event planning and execution. A strong emphasis will be placed on content creation, particularly in producing engaging photography, short videos, and digital storytelling for social media platforms. This position reports directly to the Marketing and Membership Director and Executive Director and works closely with the full Chamber team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the execution of LVECC member benefits, including website/social media management, event promotions, partnerships, gift card programs, consultations, storefront design, and the annual membership directory
Assist in maintaining LVECC websites, social media platforms, and member databases
Develop multimedia content for marketing campaigns, including photography, videography, short-form videos (such as Instagram Reels and TikToks), and basic graphic design
Research and track current social media trends to inform content creation
Coordinate and create content for the bi-weekly e-newsletter to the Lakeview East community
Attend and assist with grand openings, ribbon cuttings, and member events
Support special event planning, promotion, and day-of event activities
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Canva, Publisher, or Adobe Creative Suite preferred
Basic experience with photography, videography, and editing (CapCut, VN, or Adobe products preferred)
Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and other social media platforms
Experience creating short-form video and/or visual storytelling content for digital audiences
Strong sense of creativity, attention to detail, and understanding of visual branding
Familiarity with the Lakeview East and Wrigleyville neighborhoods is a plus
Must be fully vaccinated and able to attend in-person events (some weekend and evening availability may be required)
Education and Experience:
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field preferred
Experience with interactive and social media platforms preferred
Interest and/or experience in photography, videography, and content creation strongly preferred
Additional Skills:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with a small team
Comfortable navigating modern information technologies (Web, Social Media, and Database Management)

$18.00/hour
10-week commitment
