Operations Manager/Brand Manager – Ithaca NY

We have a rare opening for an Operations Manager /Program Director/On air talent in Ithaca, NY.  Our current Ops Manager will be retiring later in 2025.  This could be your best opportunity to join one of the best broadcast companies in America (Saga Broadcasting) in a quality market with a strong portfolio of radio and media products.  Ithaca, NY is located in the heart of the Fingerlakes at the base of Cayuga Lake. It features Cornell University, Ithaca College, and boasts some of the most spectacular gorges and hikes in America. The area also has hundreds of wineries that are known throughout the country.  A college market surrounded by agriculture and solid tourism.  If this is your calling…we hope to hear from you!

Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of the on-air programming operations of ten (10) radio stations with the overall goal of building audience engagement and supporting station revenue goals.
  • Works with engineering to deal with equipment issues and plan for the best workflow and imaging for all the stations. 
  • Works to maintain coverage for all programming and production associates for day-to-day shifts, vacations, and general needs.
  • Works with on-air talent and the marketing and promotions departments to create and produce station imaging campaigns that further strengthen all the stations and their brands.
  • Ensures compliance with all FCC rules and other regulations.
  • Employs best practices to program audio content, which may include a mix of music, news, traffic, talk shows, community outreach programs and more.
  • Monitors the live and automated hours of operation.
  • Provides management oversight of programming across all platforms, including digital.
  • Engages with the local community
  • Provides oversight of public service announcements.
  • Troubleshoots programming issues and are concerned with the overall broadcast signal strength and streaming qualities.
  • Is a leader in the building and in the community.
  • On- air shift

 

Qualifications

  • Skilled in music scheduling, image content writing.
  • On-Air experience
  • Knowledge of digital automation systems as well as the production and business software needed to run equipment.
  • Ability to grow and develop on-air talent through guidance and coaching.

Experience level

  • Prior management experience and previous experience in radio programming.
