Human Resources Specialist (Temporary)
HFY is seeking a detail-oriented and service-minded HR Specialist for a temporary position to support our Human Resources team. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily HR functions across a range of administrative functions, recruitment activities, and systems processing, implementation and overall coordination within the HR team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for people, a strong work ethic, and an interest in gaining or expanding HR experience in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes, including document preparation, orientation coordination, and systems access
- Assist with recruitment logistics, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation in the existing and expanding HRIS systems
- Provide requested reports and documents
- Assist with processing employee changes such as promotions, leaves, and terminations
- Enroll employees in training, track due dates and send reminders
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and employment laws, procure, scan and track related paperwork
- Support HR team on special projects and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources, administration, or a related field (nonprofit experience a plus)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual, English and Spanish preferred * supplemental pay available if qualified
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with HR systems (e.g., Applicant Tracking Systems, ADP Workforce Now) and Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Excel and Merge Documents
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Additional Information
- This is a temporary full-time position, with the possibility of extension or permanent hire based on performance and organizational need. Expected Duration: 6 Months
- Work is onsite and schedule is generally Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with flexibility
