Prototype Engineering Intern

Slate is a new US company exploring development in the electric vehicle space.

Who we are looking for:

  • We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Prototype Engineering Intern to join our team for Summer 2025 (May – August/September).
  • Ideal candidates are eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and fabrication environment.
  • This opportunity is perfect for individuals who prefer active, on-your-feet work over a traditional desk role.
  • We're looking for candidates interested in a full-time, immersive internship experience at an innovative and rapidly growing startup.

What you get to do:

  • Collaborate closely with our team of Engineers and Engineering Technicians to support ongoing projects.
  • Develop hands-on experience in fabricating and reworking prototype components.
  • Receive training in welding, metal stamping, and the operation of various manufacturing equipment.
  • Gain practical experience with industry-standard tools and software, including CATIA, Polarion (for project management), and CANalyzer.

What you bring to the team:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in Orion, MI, five days per week.
  • Strong interest in gaining or expanding hands-on experience in a fabrication and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation.
