Life Enrichment Apprentice (12 Week Internship)

As a Senior Living Life Enrichment Apprentice @ Sagewood at Daybreak, you will assist the Life Enrichment Team in designing, planning, and executing a variety of programs and events for the residents of our senior living community. You will engage with residents through meaningful activities that enhance their quality of life, and you will support the daily operations of the Life Enrichment department. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a healthcare and wellness-oriented environment.

* This is a 12 week long paid internship. Our first week will be May 19 and our last week will be August 4*

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in Activity Planning & Implementation:
  • Learn the process of implementing and supporting aspects of the community’s Kisco Confidence®: Art of Living Well philosophy and the 9 dimensions of wellness through interaction with residents,
  • ideation, creation, and execution in presenting classes and instruction, coordinating events, and transportation.
• Resident Engagement:
  • Learn how to assist in promoting the highest quality programing for the healthy, activity-enriched lifestyle of residents and associates in the senior living industry.
  • Encourage resident participation and foster a sense of community and belonging.
• Promote Wellness:
  • Encourage physical, mental, and social wellness through a variety of activities such as exercise classes, brain games, music, gardening, and social hours.
  • Assist with memory care activities or specific therapies for residents with cognitive impairments.
• Collaborative Team Support:
  • Work closely with other departments, including nursing and dietary, to ensure activities are aligned with residents' health and care plans.
  • shadow an experienced and highly qualified Life Enrichment Team, and attend regular meetings with your resident mentor.
• Other Duties as Assigned

Education/Experience/Training:

Currently enrolled or will soon be enrolled in higher education toward recreation management or health-related field of study, emphasis on Geriatrics preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to push/pull 50 pounds
• Experience with Office 365 preferred
• Interpersonal Communication skills

Additional Information:

• This position is a paid internship
• Flexible hours are available, and occasional evenings or weekends may be required depending on schedules and projects.
