Data Associate
About CIRS:
The Cultural Institutions Retirement System (“CIRS”) consists of three multiemployer plans: a defined benefit plan, a 401(K) savings plan and a group life insurance program. Since 1962, CIRS has been providing benefits for employees at New York City area cultural institutions and daycare centers. CIRS covers over 8,000 active employees and 12,000 retirees/deferred vested participants from approximately 150 daycare centers and 50 cultural institutions, including the American Museum of Natural History and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
The Role:
The Data Associate performs in a multi-faceted role, anchored by accountability for various aspects in the administration of the CIRS Plans, including maintaining data integrity and ensuring the compliance of participating employers and employees with plan rules and regulatory guidelines. Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
• Running CIRS’ established processes using Excel, Access, VBA, SQL and other programs.
• Performing quality control process to monitor the reasonability of data supplied by employers and prepare questions as needed.
• Preforming data entry and support of employer payroll audits.
• Analyzing database reports from our third-party administrators for consistency among each other and with CIRS’ internal records.
• Performing analysis of CIRS’ employee contribution collection to identify potentially incorrect contribution amounts, missing contributions and late contributions and communicate findings with employers to remedy issues.
• Perform large annual data projects such as annual invoice preparation, data collection for actuarial valuation and review of benefit statements.
• Reviewing employee benefit calculations.
• Maintaining documentation for assigned processes.
• Performing User Acceptance Testing, as assigned.
• Providing support to the Development and Quality Assurance Teams, as needed.
The Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree focused on analytical skills with mathematical, computer science, or data science knowledge development.
• 1 year of experience working in an office environment preferred.
• Strong logical skillset, meticulous attention to detail, must be a team player and collaborator, strong organizational skills and dedicated work ethic.
• Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in the use of other Microsoft Office applications.
• SQL, VBA and/or Power BI experience is a plus
