Job Description Knox Presbyterian Church of Naperville is seeking a skilled and reliable Multimedia Technician to temporarily manage sound for our weekly worship services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of audio systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a heart for serving through technical excellence. This is a part-time position requiring availability on Sunday mornings starting in June, and additionally Wednesday evenings starting in September. Position Title: Multimedia Technician Reports to: Media Producer, Director of Worship, Music and Art and Head of Staff Type: Part-time Class: Part-Time, up to 5-10 hours per week Qualifications ● Proven experience as an audio technician, preferably in a live sound environment. ● Strong understanding of audio equipment, proficiency in operating digital consoles. ● Knowledge of microphone techniques, equalization, and dynamics processing. ● Knowledge of video and lighting systems. ● Experience with live streaming platforms. ● Ability to troubleshoot audio problems quickly and effectively. ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team of volunteers. ● Reliable and punctual with respect for the church environment Key Responsibilities: ● Pre-Service Setup: ○ Arrive [7:30am] prior to the services to set up and test all audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, and recording devices. ○ Ensure all cables are properly connected and functioning. ○ Perform a soundcheck with musicians and speakers to optimize levels and clarity. ○ Configure and test in-ear and speaker monitor systems (if applicable). ● Live Sound Mixing: ○ Operate the soundboard during the service, adjusting levels and equalization to ensure clear and balanced audio for the congregation. ○ Manage microphone levels for vocalists, instrumentalists, and speakers, ensuring optimal clarity and minimizing feedback. ○ Follow the service flow and anticipate changes in audio requirements. ○ Monitor audio levels to prevent distortion and ensure a comfortable listening experience. ● Post-Service Teardown: ○ Work with volunteers to properly dismantle and store all audio equipment after the service. ○ Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or issues. ● Recording and Streaming: ○ Setup and operate recording equipment for services. ○ Setup and manage live streaming audio feeds. ● September Rehearsals (September 3rd-10th) ○ Manage sound for weekly Praise Band Rehearsals, Wednesdays 5:30pm-7:30pm ● Equipment Maintenance: ○ Report any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs to the designated person. ○ Maintain an organized and tidy audio booth/area. ● Collaboration and Communication: ○ Communicate effectively with musicians, speakers, and worship leaders regarding audio and video needs. ○ Work collaboratively with the worship team and staff to ensure a smooth and seamless service. ○ Provide technical support and troubleshooting as needed. ○ Work effectively to communicate with and guide other technical volunteers. ● Oversee Volunteers: ○ Position will oversee booth production when media producer unavailable, but not expected to physically run all booth components every service ■ Volunteers will plug other gaps in staffing as needed ■ Note that volunteers will be covering some of these positions each Sunday as determined by Media Producer Background Checks: All Knox Staff go through background checks and Safe Haven Training prior to employment. Compensation & Benefits: The position is paid on an hourly basis. Timesheets are required every two weeks.
