Esports Intern - Level II
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Parks & Recreation
PAY RATE: $15/Hour
TOTAL INTERNSHIP HOURS: 400*
*Department is willing to work with students needing more or fewer hours than posted depending on mutual needs.
This position reports directly to Recreation Supervisor. Regular feedback through formal and informal meetings will be given weekly.
EXPERIENTIAL INTERN FUNCTIONS:
- Operations & Maintenance of a community-based esports center.
- Participation in department leadership meetings with opportunities to attend Parks and Recreation Board and City Council meetings if the intern desires.
- Esports Center tours & Guest relations.
- Creation & implementation of strategic marketing and promotional plans.
- Program, event, and tournament creation, implementation, and evaluation of inclusive esports activities.
- Introduction to and principles of budget development and management will be included in the internship experience.
SUMMARY:
The City of Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Esports Intern. This internship opportunity will be based out of the Crosby Recreation Center, with duties at both Crosby and Rosemeade Esports Centers. The Esports Intern will play a crucial role in assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of esports programs and events. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the rapidly growing field of esports while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with organizing and administrating esports tournaments, leagues, and events held at both Esports Centers.
• Provide support in setting up and maintaining gaming equipment, consoles, computers, and related software.
• Assist with the creation and implementation of promotional strategies for esports programs and events.
• Assist with registration processes, participant databases, and communications with esports participants.
• Assist with the development and execution of educational workshops and training sessions for esports enthusiasts.
• Collaborate with the Esports Supervisor to develop and implement creative content for social media platforms, websites, and other marketing channels.
• Assist with supervising and monitoring esports activities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of both Esports Centers.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program.
• Maintaining a 2.5 GPA or better.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must pass a criminal history check.
• Must pass motor vehicle records check.
• Minimum of 15 hours per week required; maximum of 40 hours per week.
