Graduate Administrative Assistant
The Graduate Administrative Assistant works at the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center under the supervision of the Director of the Beaumier Center. Essential duties include management of the Center’s website, Maamawi-Ozhighi/Together We Grow (https://nmu.edu/maamawi-ozhigi). The website is dedicated to understanding the relationship between the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University. This position will be the lead editor for the website.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Person in this position will be expected to work 20 hours per week during the semester.
- All editorial duties for Maamawi-Ozhighi/Together We Grow website
- Research and writing of articles for the website.
- Includes use of primary and secondary sources for research purposes
- Interviewing subjects for the development of article content
- Recruitment of NMU alumni, faculty, staff and students as contributors to the website’s content.
- Create and post social media content related to the website.
- Development of new themes and content for the website related to the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University with the aid of the Beaumier Center’s Director, Daniel Truckey.
- Updating and editing content on the website, using the university’s Drupal CMS.
- Weekly meetings with the Director of the Beaumier Center and quarterly meetings with the Beaumier Community Engagement Committee.
