Interim Kindergarten Enrichment Teacher

Newtown Discovery Preschool invites all students seeking hands-on experience to apply for our interim Kindergarten teacher position from April to June 2025 while our current teacher is on maternity leave.


This role involves leading a class of five children and designing a fun, interactive curriculum aligned with our learning approach. The ideal candidate is a graduate student or a current student completing their degree by Spring 2025 who is eager to gain experience as a lead teacher.


Position: Interim Kindergarten Enrichment Teacher
Dates: April – June 2025
Hours: 40 per week
Compensation: Starting at $21.73 per hour with a $400 sign on bonus after the school year is complete.
Location: 27 Blacksmith Road, Newtown, PA 18940
 *Could lead to a permanent position*

 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
  • Support children in their daily activities, including Montessori methods, physical education, and literacy education.
  • Facilitate a safe and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Implement early intervention strategies to support children with diverse learning needs.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to promote a collaborative educational experience.
  • Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective classroom management techniques.
  • Provide care for toddlers during designated times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of early childhood education.

Qualifications

  • A background/degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with preschool environments and daycare settings
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to manage a classroom setting while maintaining a positive atmosphere for learning.
