School to Work - Mechanical Engineering (Student)
We are looking for a talented School to Work – Engineering (Student) to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Design Support : Assist in the design and development of automotive inverters under the guidance of experienced engineers, contributing innovative ideas and solutions.
Prototype Assembly : Participate in the assembly and testing of prototype automotive inverters, gaining hands-on experience with soldering techniques, harness assembly, and mechanical integration procedures.
Technical Documentation : Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for design processes, assembly instructions, and testing protocols, ensuring clarity and consistency.
Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
Problem Solving : Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues during the design and assembly phases, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance product performance.
Innovation : Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies and assembly techniques, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to the team.
Quality Assurance : Assist in the development and implementation of quality control measures, ensuring that prototypes meet stringent performance and reliability standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CAD Proficiency: Basic knowledge of CAD software, particularly CREO, which will aid in design tasks and enhance your technical skill set.

Education/Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information
Experience with hands on electronics experience is a plus.
Involvement in Robotics event like FIRST robotics is preferred.
Involvement in Automotive events as College BAJA or Formula SAE is preferred.
