## Position: Student Board Member

### Overview
The Student Board of Directors at Voice Up Publishing represents a unique opportunity for exceptional student leaders to provide oversight and direction for our global internship program. This student-led governing body ensures that our programs remain relevant, engaging, and true to our mission of connecting people to their purpose. Board members play a crucial role in shaping the internship experience through peer leadership, creative program development, and direct engagement with the founder of Voice Up.

All board activities and decisions are guided by Voice Up's five core principles:

These principles serve as the foundation for how the board operates internally and how it shapes the broader Voice Up experience for all participants.

### Purpose
The Student Board exists to create a "for students, by students" governance model that ensures the Voice Up internship program remains authentic to student needs and perspectives. By leveraging diverse student voices in leadership positions, we create a more responsive, innovative, and effective platform for developing the next generation of social impact leaders.

### Key Responsibilities

#### Program Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight for the global Voice Up internship program
- Review internship outcomes and recommend continuous improvements
- Ensure program alignment with Voice Up's mission and core principles
- Advocate for student perspectives in all aspects of program development

#### Saturday Session Organization
- Design and coordinate weekly Saturday sessions across all three time slots (1:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 9:30 PM EST)
- Develop engaging session frameworks that foster peer learning and collaboration
- Create rotation schedules for session facilitation among board members
- Collect and implement feedback to continuously improve session quality

#### Program Innovation
- Identify creative approaches to enhance student engagement with purpose discovery
- Design new tools and resources to support interns in their social impact projects
- Explore innovative ways to scale the impact of student projects globally
- Recommend improvements to the project development pathway

#### Community Building
- Foster a global community of purpose-driven student leaders
- Create opportunities for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration
- Develop strategies to strengthen the talent-sharing ecosystem
- Ensure all Voice Up spaces remain psychologically safe for authentic expression

#### Global Coordination
- Help coordinate quarterly global sharing events
- Ensure equitable representation of projects from diverse geographic regions
- Develop strategies to expand Voice Up's presence in new regions
- Serve as ambassadors for Voice Up on your campus and in your community

### Meeting Structure
- Weekly Wednesday meetings with the founder of Voice Up via Zoom
- 1-hour duration focused on strategic discussion and program oversight
- Collaborative agenda setting with rotating leadership opportunities
- Direct input into the evolution of the Voice Up program globally

### Qualifications
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning
- Students of all age levels meeting this criteria are encouraged to apply, from traditional college students to working adult professionals
- Current or former Voice Up intern with demonstrated excellence in your social impact project
- Strong commitment to Voice Up's mission of connecting people to their purpose
- Exceptional demonstration of the five core principles:
 - **Collaboration:** Ability to work effectively with a diverse global team
 - **Humility:** Openness to continuous learning and diverse perspectives
 - **Precision:** Attention to detail in program oversight and development
 - **Patience:** Understanding of the time required for meaningful change
 - **Empathy:** Deep respect for the unique journeys of all Voice Up participants
- Excellent facilitation and group leadership skills
- Creative problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to attending weekly Wednesday meetings
- Ability to organize and occasionally facilitate Saturday sessions
- Passion for developing other student leaders

### Term and Commitment
- Board term: Minimum commitment of 6 months (with possibility of renewal)
- Weekly time commitment: 10-15 hours total, including:
 - Weekly Wednesday meeting: 1 hour
 - Saturday session planning and occasional facilitation
 - Program development work
 - Mentoring and supporting other interns
- 100% remote participation via Zoom
