Career Specialist
Stark State College is looking to fill a Career Specialist role. Our Career Specialist position advises and educates students, alumni, and community members in career exploration and professional development using various strategies, methods, and tools.
Typical Hours of Work: Typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Some evening hours are required, more specifically, the person in this position will need to be available to work at least one evening until 6:30 p.m. per month.
Pay:$43,049.00 - $55,964.00 Annually

Location: Main Campus (North Canton, Ohio) and ability to work at Stark State College Akron (Akron, Ohio).

Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Conducts career advising sessions to facilitate career planning and decision making process.
- Provides comprehensive conversation and interpretation of assessment outcomes.
- Provides one-on-one career coaching, small group and classroom workshops
- Assist with planning and facilitation of specialty events, career fairs, and workshops by coordinating with business contacts, faculty, staff, and students.
- Partners with college faculty and staff to assist with employer relations by identifying potential employers seeking internships, full-time, part-time and training opportunities.
- Participates in campus enrollment and retention activities, student success initiatives and other campus events.
- Plan, develop, and deliver customized presentations to a variety of groups including high school students, student groups, and community organizations.
- In order to best serve our students, our Career Specialist position(s) are required to work 10am - 6:30pm a minimum of one night a week.
- This position can be expected to work out of our North Canton and Akron campus locations.

To be Considered You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Education, or Human Resources or related field is required.
- Valid Ohio driver's license is required.
- Masters degree in related field preferred, although not required.
- At least six months of experience (may be intern/practicum student experience) providing career planning assistance in a college or university related setting is preferred, although not required.
