Job Summary
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is seeking passionate, student-centered Secondary English Teachers to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. Multiple vacancies are available across our middle and high school campuses. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, equity, and fostering a love for literature and writing in a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in English Language Arts
  • Develop lessons that promote reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and critical thinking
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
  • Integrate technology, local resources, and contemporary texts into daily instruction
  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide and improve instruction
  • Create a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues to support student success
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborative team planning
  • Maintain accurate records and update the online gradebook in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Alaska teaching certificate (Initial, Professional, or Master) with an English endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification by the start date
  • Meets all state and federal requirements to be highly qualified in the content area
