STEM/Literacy Learning Camp - Summer School Teacher (Incoming 2nd-4th)

TITLE:    STEM/Literacy Learning Camp - Summer School Teacher (Incoming 2nd-4th)                                 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an active teacher certificate.
  • Exemplary experience in teaching elementary literacy, science, and math
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage students in a virtual setting if needed
  • Must have successful classroom experience with literacy instruction and assessment.
  • Must have experience using data to guide student’s learning individual paths.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive professionals with a growth mindset

 

REPORTS TO:    Director of Elementary Instruction 

SUPERVISES:     All Students 

JOB GOAL:         To support incoming grades 2-4 elementary students with STEM and literacy exploration.

Program Description: The Macomb Intermediate School District is offering a camp for students to engage with high interest science based texts to develop vocabulary, fluency and comprehension strategies. Students will also engage in science and engineering activities and investigations focused on developing rich content knowledge.

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide effective instructional methods based on a daily schedule outlined in training
  • Administer pre and post assessments
  • Submit attendance records
  • Plan appropriate instruction to support diverse student needs
  • Plans and prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.*
  • Leads face-to-face student class sessions.*
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved, and the physical limitations of the location provided.*
  • Diagnoses student and class educational needs.*
  • Plans instructional goals, objectives, and methods and cooperates with other members of the staff in achieving these aims.*
  • Develops, organizes and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.*
  • Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior, as approved by FPS
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.*
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.*
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board of Education policy.*
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes during and outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.*
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all students.*
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as  assigned. *

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                       

One 5-week session: July 7th -August 7th 

Teachers will work from 8:30 to 11:30 am (24 days) for instructional time with 30 minutes of supervision before and 30 minutes of supervision after, 1 hour planning time per day.

  • Contracted through MISD or Fraser
  • July 7th-August 7th - (Mon-Thurs, 4 days/week) - Week of July 1-4 off
  • 8:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Teachers should be compensated for 5 hours a day (4 hours instructional time and 1 prep hour) 8:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Teachers must attend a one day training in May or June. The training will be held virtually after school. May 27th or June 4th 4:00pm-6:00pm (2 hours) 
  • one day set-up(5 hours)
  • $45.00/hour paid by the FPS

SALARY:                    $45.00 per hour
