Intern, Corporate Communications and Broadcasting

The Tampa Bay Rays Corporate Communications and Broadcasting team manages internal and external corporate communication, media relations and television and radio broadcasts for the Rays and Rowdies organizations. The department seeks part-time interns for the 2025 season.
 

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist planning and execution of media events, alerts and announcements, including on-site media interviews and live shots
  • Provide support  in producing/writing/shooting/editing internal news video, ‘The Pitch’ 
  • Various research, reports and presentations, including use of media monitoring software, fan surveys, focus groups and industry best practices
  • Assist with ideation, development and implementation of activities and celebrations on special event dates, such as Pride Night and Roberto Clemente Day
  • Write draft copy for various communications projects, including press releases, social media, email correspondence and invitations, marketing and in-ballpark messaging
  • Assist radio broadcast team for game day support as needed
  • Assist with document collection and organization for the Rays and Rowdies archive
  • Assist with coordination of game day activities and other special events as needed (i.e. Rowdies games and events, outside community events)
  • Collaborate with various departments on projects, as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-year associate degree or pursuit toward degree
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including a mastery of grammar
  • Experience shooting/editing video preferred
  • Strong work ethic and a dedication to accuracy
  • Ability to identify challenges and take initiative to overcome them
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products 
  • Relevant experience favored

 

The following are brief internship guidelines:

  • Candidates must be available May to August, or  August to December
  • Must be available for normal office hours, game days and events as assigned
