College Intern - Parks & Recreation
POSITION SUMMARY
College Interns assist the Department of Parks & Recreation in achieving departmental goals and objectives. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about public service, general operating procedures, and the workings of City government. They will also learn specific skills, which may include but are not limited to: running market operations, organizing and planning special events, inventory control, researching and developing policy, analyzing data and developing reports, documenting procedures, maintaining databases and customer service.

Salary: $15.00 per hour.
Union: Non-Union.
Civil Service Classification: Exempt.
Note: This position is posted continuously to cover internship opportunities through Summer of 2025 (April 28, 2025 - August 8, 2025). Application deadline for this internship is April 25, 2025.
REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: Sales and/or marketing experience is preferred.
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must be currently enrolled and taking classes in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program; OR have graduated within the last six (6) months.
- EQUIVALENCY: None permitted for this position.

POSITION DUTIES
- Provides support to 1-2 CitiParks farmers markets weekly, as a part of the Farmers Market Team. This entails efficiently running market operations and special events, effectively communicating about operations and events, and interacting with the public and vendors in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Leads components of a community driven food access plan in the Carrick neighborhood.
- Assists with outcomes from the Local Food, Local Places grant process.
- May analyze statistical data, complete surveys, conduct research and develop reports.
- May assist in developing marketing materials and in developing and maintaining social media campaigns.
- May maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
- May provide general administrative support to staff.
- Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
