Position Description: Electrical Engineer (Full time)
Educational Level: Post-Master's
Activity/Project: AC/DC difference Metrology
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking a full-time Electrical
Engineer for a research program in ac-dc difference electrical measurements in the DC to
100 MHz frequency range. The candidate can expect to acquire advanced technical skills in
precision measurements
The work will entail:
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Assist with the setup and execution of research experiments in ac/dc difference electrical
metrology.
• Develop software for instrument control and for acquisition, processing, visualization, and
storage of interrelated measurement data.
• Perform measurements of ac/dc devices and automate data processing for analysis including comparison with historical values for the device.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Candidates must have a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited
university or college.
• Five or more years working in a technical/research environment.
• Experience with high-voltage electronic test circuits and high-power hardware.
Desired Qualifications:
• Enthusiasm for solving challenging technical problems as part of a coordinated research
team.
• Experience using test and measurement hardware (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lock-in amplifiers, arbitrary waveform generators).
