
Data Analyst Intern (Pack STEM, Four Square Clinicals)

Four Square Clinicals is a dynamic and growing behavioral health organization based in Northern Nevada, dedicated to providing high-quality, client-centered care for individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders (SUD), and co-occurring conditions. Current Projects - Interns will have the chance to contribute to or observe:
- Launching integrated primary care services alongside mental health and SUD programs
- Expanding our evening IOP and group therapy offerings
- Developing a mobile outreach unit to serve rural and homeless populations
- Establishing research initiatives including neuromodulation and comparison of current treatments in partnership with UNR and local providers
- Building out a centralized care coordination system using Microsoft 365 and modern EHR platforms
- Planning and executing sober living transitions and Level 3 Residential Treatment pathways

Internship Description:
We are expanding integrated care and need data-driven insights to improve clinical workflows and track outcomes.
Intern could support projects like:
- Building dashboards to monitor IOP attendance, medication compliance, and client progress.
- Evaluating program effectiveness (e.g., mobile outreach impact, housing stability post-discharge).
- Organizing and analyzing EEG-based TMS research data.
- Supporting grant applications or compliance with quality improvement metrics.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 12 weeks total)
- Collect, clean, and analyze data related to:
- Client attendance (IOP, group, individual)
- Outcomes from SUD treatment and psychiatric services
- Medication management trends and follow-ups
- Create dashboards and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to:
- Track program metrics (e.g., completion rates, relapse rates, housing stability)
- Identify gaps in service utilization or disparities in care
- Support quarterly or grant reporting by:
- Summarizing data findings for funders or stakeholders
- Generating charts, infographics, and brief reports
- Work with clinical staff to optimize data collection tools (e.g., Microsoft Forms, EHR exports)
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and strategic planning
- Assist with integration of Microsoft 365 tools to improve workflow and documentation tracking
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
Goals:
- Support Data-Driven Decision Making: Contribute meaningful insights to improve clinical services, outreach, and client outcomes through accurate, actionable data analysis.
- Enhance Reporting and Accountability: Build tools (dashboards, reports) that assist in meeting internal quality improvement goals and external reporting needs (e.g., funders, stakeholders)
- Increase Operational Efficiency: Identify trends, bottlenecks, or opportunities to optimize client care pathways, attendance, and documentation.
- Build Practical Skills in Healthcare Analytics: Gain hands-on experience using real-world data in a behavioral health and integrated care environment
Expectations:
- Attend regular supervision/check-in meetings (weekly or biweekly)
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Complete assigned data projects and communicate progress proactively
- Be open to learning about the behavioral health system, care models, and tech platforms (EHR, Microsoft 365)
- Present a final reflection or summary of contributions at the end of the internship
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester
- Spring ‘25 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program
- Coursework in Public Health, Data Science, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or related STEM field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, charts, pivot tables)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client data with professionalism
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn and work within the context of behavioral health and social services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Familiarity with EHR systems or healthcare-related datasets
- Coursework or experience in public health statistics, epidemiology, or healthcare quality improvement
- Interest in mental health, SUD treatment, rural health, or health equity
- Experience using Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., SharePoint, Forms, Teams)
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Time Commitment:
- 32-40 hours per week, flexible between 9 AM – 5 PM
- Some remote/hybrid work options may be available depending on tasks
Important:
- Must be available for a weekly check-in meeting with supervisor (30–60 minutes)
- Schedule can be adjusted around academic exams or breaks with advance notice
Pack STEM internships require interns to complete 360 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
