Art Department Intern

Art Department Intern Fall 2025 

Project Overview 

  • Lagoon Amusement Park is looking for a talented painting intern to join our Art Department team. This is an incredibly unique opportunity for someone to expand their painting portfolio and gain a new professional painting experience!

Learning Objectives 

  • The intern will be painting historic carousel characters to be put into circulation on the 130-year-old carousel at Lagoon Amusement Park.
  • Intern will be given on-the-job training on how to properly restore and paint historic wooden carousel characters.
  • The intern’s project will be to create the painting concept for a carousel character and then execute that concept onto an actual historic carousel character.
  • At the end of the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to present their final completed carousel character(s) to the upper management of Lagoon Amusement Park.
  • Other artistic projects may become available based on the intern’s interest and goals.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Preferably a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing Fine Arts in Painting or related field.
  • Extensive portfolio of painted works and other related artistic projects.
  • Ability to learn quickly and a self-starter who can complete work independently.

Supervision 

  • The intern will work closely with the Art Department Special Projects Manager and report directly to the Art & Sign Shop Manager.

Employment Duration, Work Hours, Miscellaneous

  • Location: Onsite at Lagoon Amusement Park (375 North Lagoon Dr, Farmington, UT)
  • Compensation: $14.50 per hour base rate. Additional bonus based on performance at completion of project(s).
  • Intern may arrange for academic credit through their school, if desired.
  • Hours: 15-20 hours a week
  • Internship duration: September 15th to November 21st 2025
  • Housing: Intern will be responsible for securing their own housing and transportation arrangements.
