Organizational Development Intern

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is an entry-level, temporary/seasonal position. The position will primarily assist and work in a variety of situations, projects, and assignments. Tasks and functions normally assigned to this level are generally routine in nature and any deviations or decisions from routine are generally assisted or approved by upper level staff.

NOTE: This position is intended for seasonal part-time employees. Employee benefits for vacation, sick leave, pension, hospitalization, life insurance, and other benefits provided to permanent employees of the Authority are not provided to employees hired for this position. It is stipulated that the seasonal part-time status should not extend longer than three to nine (3-9) months.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

1. Lesson Planning:

  • Revise and create lesson plans under the guidance of experienced trainers.
  • Learn to differentiate lesson plans for adult learners, learning styles, modalities, capabilities, and goals.

2. Facilitation:

  • Assist in the facilitation of learning sessions, workshops, or classes under the guidance of experienced trainers.
  • Learn to engage with trainees and encourage active participation during sessions.
  • Collaboratively plan, prepare, and deliver training.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

3. Resource Development:

  • Assist in researching and sourcing educational materials, multimedia resources, and technology tools to enhance lessons.
  • Contribute to the creation of supplementary materials such as worksheets, handouts, and visual aids.

4. Assessment and Feedback:

  • Participate in the administration of assessments to gauge student progress.
  • Learn to analyze assessment data and provide feedback to participants.
  • Gain experience in creating and using assessment data to inform instructional improvements.
  • Create visualizations including graphs and charts.

5. Collaboration and Learning:

  • Collaborate with trainers, subject matter experts, and others to align lesson plans with strategic objectives.
  • Participate in team meetings and discussions to enhance your understanding of effective training strategies.
  • Take advantage of mentorship opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in education.
  • A wide range of training which will include industry-specific and personalized learning paths.



WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Completed English 1 and/or Business English with a B or a higher grade.

Majors in programs related to Education, Communication, English, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Learning and Development, or Media Arts are preferred. Other majors will be considered for a candidate with a passion to grow.


EXPERIENCE

Coursework in any of the following areas: communication, lesson design, project management, or media arts.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE

Read, write, and speak in English. Knowledge in at least one of the following areas with a passion for acquiring skills in the other areas is also required: communication, presentations, lesson planning, project management, and media arts. Knowledge of basic office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is also required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Active listening is a critical skill. Must have good attention to detail. Must also be able to evaluate and synthesize information with some direction. Must be capable of rapidly learning new software.

 

GUIDANCE RECEIVED

Receives ongoing detailed supervision and standard procedures. Follows standard procedures and/or detailed instructions for each task or assignment; any situation that calls for something different is referred to a supervisor or more senior position.


WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are almost always carried out in an office environment. Some fieldwork may be required.

Office equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, and other systems for lesson development and facilitation.
