📣 Paid Summer Internship Opportunity – Tuscola County Advertiser
Are you a student or aspiring journalist with a passion for storytelling, current events, and your local community? The Tuscola County Advertiser is looking for a motivated and curious individual to join our newsroom as a Paid Summer Intern from May through August.
đź“° About the Role:
As a summer intern, you’ll work side-by-side with our editorial staff covering local news, events, and human-interest stories across Tuscola County. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in a professional newsroom environment and build a portfolio of published work.
đź’Ľ Responsibilities:
Research, pitch, and write articles for print and digital publication
Assist with reporting on community events, local government, and feature stories
Conduct interviews, take photos, and fact-check content
Collaborate with editors and other staff to meet deadlines
Attend staff meetings and contribute to editorial planning
✅ What We’re Looking For:
Strong writing and communication skills
Interest in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
Attention to detail and a nose for a good story
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Some photography and social media experience a plus
Reliable transportation is required for assignments around the county
📍 Location:
This position is based at our office in Caro, Michigan. Some remote work or fieldwork may be required depending on the story assignments.

This is a paid internship. Details regarding hourly wage and schedule will be discussed during the interview process.

Start: Early May
End: Late August (flexible with school schedules)
