Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The Student Campus Tour Guide is responsible for leading guided tours of the campus for prospective students, families, and other visitors. They serve as ambassadors for the institution, providing valuable information about campus life, academic programs, and the overall student experience. As a Tour Guide, your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Campus Tours: Lead informative and engaging campus tours for prospective students and their families.
  • Showcase key campus facilities, academic buildings, residence halls, and recreational areas.
  • Provide historical and contextual information about the institution.

Knowledge of Campus: 

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the campus layout, facilities, and services.
  • Stay updated on academic programs, majors, and extracurricular opportunities.

Communication: 

  • Communicate effectively and enthusiastically with tour participants.
  • Address questions and concerns from prospective students and families.
  • Tailor the tour experience to the interests and needs of each group.

Visitor Engagement: 

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all tour participants.
  • Share personal experiences and insights about student life on campus.
  • Encourage interaction and engagement during tours.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable speaking to groups of various sizes.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in conduct.
  • Availability during peak campus visit times (including weekdays and occasional weekends).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and enthusiastically.
  • Strong sense of school spirit and pride in the institution.
  • Ability to adapt tours to different audiences (e.g., prospective students, parents, school groups).
  • Demonstrates cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Ability to manage time and tasks independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk for extended periods and navigate campus terrain (including stairs and outdoor elements).
  • Must be able to speak continuously for the duration of tours (typically 60–90 minutes).
  • Occasionally assist with event setup or materials distribution.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in customer service, public speaking, or leadership roles.
  • Involvement in campus organizations, athletics, or other student life activities.
  • Knowledge of university programs, services, and history.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
