Summary

The Franklinville Central School District needs a person to serve as a Job Coach / Teaching Assistant to help with the supplemental instruction, general supervision, and management of students with disabilities within the district.  The position would provide 1:1 job coaching and support students with access to employment opportunities. The teacher assistant will work under the direction of the classroom teacher and assist with the implementation of instructional plans. The successful candidate will be ready to work with all students to promote educational, social and emotional development. The ideal applicant will be caring, patient and understanding. The Teaching Assistant must be attentive to the unique needs of each student and be able to identify proper solutions when students encounter issues. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, collaborating with other teachers, working with students and talking to families. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with classroom instruction, provide support, and guidance to students
  • Maintain a supportive, safe and clean classroom environment
  • Support the classroom system to track student progress, and take steps to ensure academic progress is where it should be
  • Supervise students during non-classroom time
  • Work closely with the lead teacher to identify issues students are having and develop appropriate solutions
  • Attend teacher meetings and training sessions, as well as parent-teacher conferences
  • Develop, collaborate, and implement individualized action plans to support job readiness and success
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, community organizations, and government agencies to secure job placements and support ongoing career development.

 

Additional Duties 

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Teaching Assistant certification required
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related major preferred
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • A positive, empathetic and loving attitude

License

  • Teachers Assistant Certificate (required)
