Overview of Software Development Internship
GeoComm’s mission is to help save lives and protect property by providing essential innovative, location-based solutions to public safety professionals across the United States. A GeoComm software development intern contributes to the mission by developing and testing software applications.
Job Functions and Responsibilities

Designs small projects, builds, unit tests, and maintains application systems.
- Makes updates to applications applying software development techniques to improve the structure of applications to meet expected outcomes
- Uses code refactoring on a limited basis to improve the internal structure and properties of the software for readability, simplicity, and maintainability
- Creates appropriate documentation

Performs testing to verify the quality of the applications.
- Conducts necessary testing for scalability, stress, negativity, usability, performance, and to GeoComm standards

Communicates with internal customers
- Prepares regular project status reports to the team
- Notifies team members and supervisor of project progress
- Meets with supervisor regularly
- Enhances knowledge of appropriate programming languages, web services, and relational database management systems
Job Requirements
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work remote with own computer and internet access
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other company personnel
- Ability to perform highly responsible assignments requiring experience, judgment, and discretion of effective completion
- Experience using languages such as C#, Python, TypeScript, and SQL.
- Experience using GIS applications such as Esri ArcGIS
- Actively enrolled in a post-secondary school and pursuing a degree in computer programming or software engineering
- Must reside in the United States
