
Public Health/Public Safety Research Internship
Q2i is seeking a prospect for a Public Health/Public Safety Research Internship working on a clinical study investigating the use of a digital health tool to improve the reentry of justice involved individuals (JIs) into society.
This internship is a contract position.
For an intern interested in working on a project addressing substance use among JIs, Q2i partners with a university on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded project seeking to design a digital health tool that helps JIs with substance use disorder navigate the reentry process back into the community. This intern will help with the evaluation component of this digital health tool, by helping screen and onboard clients for inclusion in the study, conduct baseline interviews, demonstrate how to use the tool, be available to help clients or probation/parole staff with questions they may have about the tool, and conduct follow-up interviews. This internship will be located on-site at a probation/parole office in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities
- Help screen and onboard clients and probation/parole staff
- Conduct baseline interviews
- Train staff and clients on how to use the tool

Additional Information
This paid internship will take place from June 2025 through May 2026. The internship requires a minimum commitment of approximately 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Ability to be on site at a probation/parole office in Austin, Texas
- Minimum BA/BS degree in social sciences including criminal justice/criminology, sociology, or psychology or other related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MA/MS degree in social sciences including criminal justice/criminology, sociology, or psychology or other related field.
- Proficiency using R, Stata, SAS, and/or SPSS
- Superior writing skills, evidence of advanced technical writing, ability to craft professional email messages
