About Love What Matters: Love What Matters is a leading digital storytelling platform dedicated to sharing heartfelt, inspiring, and deeply personal stories that foster empathy, compassion, and connection. We highlight real-life narratives about kindness, relationships, parenting, adoption, mental health, and everyday acts of love.

Role Overview: We are seeking a creative, passionate, and detail-oriented Assistant Editor Intern to join our editorial team. You will help source compelling stories from social media, engage with repeat contributors, edit powerful narratives, and reach out proactively to uncover new stories that align with our mission.

Responsibilities:

Source and curate impactful stories from social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, etc.) that align with our brand and resonate with our audience.

Build and maintain positive relationships with repeat contributors, ensuring timely communication and fostering long-term collaboration.

Edit contributor stories for clarity, emotional impact, and engagement, adhering to Love What Matters' editorial standards and voice.

Reach out proactively to potential contributors, clearly communicating the mission and value of sharing their stories with our platform.

Collaborate closely with senior editors and content strategists to develop compelling narratives and optimize content performance.

Assist in managing editorial calendars and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.

Support various editorial tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements:

Current enrollment in or recent graduate from a college/university program related to Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, English, or a related field.

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Familiarity with major social media platforms and the ability to identify engaging, share-worthy stories.

Strong organizational and communication skills with high attention to detail.

Passion for storytelling and an empathetic understanding of diverse personal experiences.

Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous internship experience in editorial, digital media, or content creation.

Basic knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.

Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and basic photo-editing tools.
