USC Athletics Lead Marketing and Promotions Assistant

USC ATHLETICS LEAD MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS ASSISTANT-INTERNSHIP 

The USC Athletic Marketing Department is seeking energetic, dedicated, and self-motivated Lead Marketing Assistants to join the USC Athletics Marketing department. This paid internship is geared towards students interested in gaining marketing skills and experience in the sports industry. 

Work behind the scenes at Galen Center and at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum to gain incomparable experience by working events across multiple sports. 

Various sport assignments are listed below. Please indicate in your cover letter which sport assignments you would be most interested in. We will consider your preference, but you are not guaranteed to be placed in your top choice. 

Pre-paired Sport Assignments: 

-Option 1: Women’s Soccer and Women’s Lacrosse 

-Option 2: Football and Women’s Basketball 

-Option 3: Football and Men’s Basketball 

-Option 4: Baseball 

-Option 5: Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Volleyball, Beach Volleyball 

-Option 6: Men’s Tennis, Women’s Tennis, Aquatic sports 

*Please note pre-paired sport assignments are subject to change. 

 

Hourly Position: $20 hr (max of 20 hours a week) 

 

Responsibilities

-Create and execute strategic marketing plans for assigned sport(s) 

-Conduct focused research to inform marketing plan and promotional efforts 

-Execute and oversee promotional gameday duties in accordance with approved marketing plans 

-Attend (1) Weekly meeting for sport oversight with marketing staff and various sport leads 

-Attend (1) Weekly meeting with marketing staff, fellow marketing assistants, and student marketing leads 

-Assist in the execution of sponsored elements such as on-field/court performances, promotions, and contests 

-Manage game day preparations prior to the day of the event 

-Collaborate with student marketing leads to plan and execute student initiatives 

-Lead game presentation interns with the USC game day protocols for each sport. 

-Opportunity for other duties as assigned 

 

Requirements: 

-Must have 1 year of previous internship experience  

-Must be able to commit one academic year to the internship. (June 1, 2025 - May 30, 2026) 

-Event requirement for the academic year: ○ All home events for your assigned sports 

-Possess a positive attitude, enthusiasm, responsibility, initiative, passion, integrity, and work ethic necessary to succeed as a member of the overall Marketing team 

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in high-pressure situations 

-Be willing to work nights, weekends, and potential academic breaks as required by home game schedules 

-Demonstrate the ability to treat this internship as a real job to fulfill the requirements and overall goals of the position 

-Ability to think on the fly and problem solve as necessary (SELF STARTER ☺ ) 

-Must possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn 

 

Bonus Requirements: 

-Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop) 

-Personal/previous interest and knowledge in specific sports
