Secondary Mathematics Teacher
Job Summary
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is seeking a motivated and student-centered Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This position serves middle or high school students, delivering instruction aligned with Alaska State Standards in a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lessons
- Use data to design effective instruction and assessments
- Incorporate local resources and technology into daily instruction
- Create a welcoming and respectful classroom culture
- Promote positive behavior and maintain consistent expectations
- Organize the physical space to ensure safety and accessibility for all students
- Communicate learning goals and expectations clearly to students and families
- Encourage critical thinking through meaningful questions and discussions
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and improve outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and update the online gradebook regularly
- Communicate frequently with students and families
- Participate in professional learning communities and ongoing development
- Demonstrate professionalism and collegiality in all school interactions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate (Initial, Professional, or Master) with a Mathematics endorsement, or eligibility to obtain certification by the start date
- Meets all state and federal requirements to be highly qualified in the content area

- Salary: Based on the Fairbanks Education Association (FEA) Negotiated Agreement
