Social Media and Marketing Intern
Please read the “Internship Requirements” section to ensure you qualify for this position. This grant is funded through the LA County Arts Internships Program, and unfortunately exceptions cannot be made if you do not quality.
This is a paid internship, at the rate of $17.87 / hour. This internship is exactly 400 hours, as per the LA County Arts Internships Program requirements. These 400 hours can be fulfilled between June 1st, 2025, and March 1st, 2026. Interns are required to work a minumum of 15 hours/week, and a maximum of 40 hours/week, which can change based on availability through the internship period. (Exceptions can be made during holiday periods.)
This internship is in-person, with remote work available when relevant.
Description
The Social Media and Marketing Intern will possess an interest in social media content creation and a passion for building a more inclusive society. They will be self-motivated, creative, and enjoy working both collaboratively and independently. They will be organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and time manager, and enjoy planning ahead.
Preferably, interns will work from July to December, but flexibility around the hours per week (with 15 hours/week being the minimum) and start/end dates of the position can be discussed before the start of the Internship.
Qualifications
Social media skills (ideally with experience using Instagram and TikTok)
Marketing skills and knowledge of marketing strategies (specific knowledge about social enterprises is a plus, but not required)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to strategize and plan ahead
Driven, inspired, collaborative, and positive
Passionate about social justice and community inclusion
Not required, but appreciated:
Experience with search engine optimization; photography skills; website management
Background
L.A. GOAL supports adults with developmental disabilities to live more fulfilling lives through educational, vocational and recreational programs, including Visual Arts, Drama, Music Therapy, Cooking, Adult Education, Counseling, Gardening, and more. In addition, we educate hundreds of members of the public each year about the abilities of people with disabilities through visual art shows and other outreach activities. Everyone who receives services at L.A. GOAL is a “Member,” as in “family member” because we operate like a family by providing caring, lifelong support to 67 Members and their 200 family members/caregivers.
Internship Requirements
• Able to legally work within the United States.
• Are residents of Los Angeles County attending college outside of the region or currently
attend college in Los Angeles County.
• Be currently enrolled as undergraduates, including students enrolled in associate degree
(community college) programs.
o Students who are on track to complete their undergraduate degree, or transfer
from a community college to a four-year institution between May 1 - December 1,
2025, are also eligible.
The following students are not eligible:
• Students who have already earned a Bachelor of the Arts, Bachelor of Science, or a
higher degree.
• Students who have previously participated in the LA County Arts Internship
Program.
• Family members of staff or board members of L.A. GOAL.
