Idiom Carriers—Open Casting Call

Marian Goodman Gallery New York is looking for students to activate an artwork by

Pierre Huyghe on selected dates between May 5th and June 21st.

General Conditions

• The project involves wearing a mask and working in low-light conditions

• Carriers will be surrounded by the audience during the exhibition’s opening hours

• The role does not require acting or dancing. Besides walking, standing, or sitting,

no complex body movements are needed

• Movements should remain neutral, calm, smooth, and balanced

• Additional simple hand gestures may be added if requested by the artist

• Carriers should be communicative, reliable, and motivated, and willing to

collaborate with the organizing team and the artist’s studio (ideally they take good

care of the masks with the gallery team)

Requirements

• The harness is adjustable and can be fitted to each carrier accordingly

• Ideal height: between 180–200 cm (5’ 10” – 6’ 6”)

• The mask design is fixed, so it's essential that the carrier feels comfortable

wearing it. If the mask feels too large or too small, it's preferable to work with

someone who feels at ease with its size

• There are no gender or age restrictions

• The daily or weekly routine within the space must be coordinated with and

approved by the artist
