Business Intelligence Intern

RCN Capital, LLC is a national, direct private lender providing time-sensitive, bridge financing to real estate investors to fund the purchase of non-owner occupied residential and commercial properties, provide bridge loans, and provide real estate-backed lines of credit.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented intern to join our Business Intelligence (BI) team. This role will involve working with Power BI, SQL, and Python to create and maintain reports and dashboards, with a focus on accounting and financial data. This internship provides a great opportunity to gain practical experience in data analysis and business intelligence within a collaborative team environment.

Daily tasks will be:

  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, particularly for accounting and financial data.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various databases.
  • Use Python for data analysis and automation tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform data validation to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Support ad-hoc data analysis requests and provide actionable insights.
  • Document processes and create user guides for BI tools and reports.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Power BI for creating reports and dashboards.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and managing databases.
  • Basic understanding of Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables and graphs.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (coursework can count as experience).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau or Qlik.
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling.
  • Previous internship or project experience in a BI, data analysis, or accounting role.

Required Experience:

  • Coursework or practical experience in creating reports and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries through coursework or projects.
  • Basic experience with Python for data analysis and automation tasks, gained through coursework or projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and graphs, demonstrated through coursework or practical use.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous work experience in any capacity, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.

Education:

  • To qualify, you must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate technology program at an accredited college or university studying Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Schedule:

  • For the duration of the internship, it will be 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM
