Position: Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist
Reports to: Health and Safety Leader
Responsibilities
• Assist in Developing and Maintaining Safety Policies: Support the development and maintenance of required policies and procedures to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Support Compliance Efforts: Help ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations by assisting with inspections, completing reports, and coordinating efforts with the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
• Facilitate Training Sessions: Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions to educate employees, including senior management, on their rights and responsibilities under OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
• Track and Follow-up on Safety Measures: Assist in the follow-up of inspections, training, audits, and reports to ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist with Claims and Compliance Processes: Support the management of processes related to OSHA, EPA, and Workers’ Compensation claims, including aiding in Return-to-Work programs, reporting, and investigations.
• Maintain Documentation: Help maintain necessary documentation such as hazard assessments, training records, and manuals to ensure compliance with legislated requirements.
• Support Incident Reporting and Investigations: Assist in managing the incident reporting process and support investigations to determine root causes and follow-ups.
• Collaborate on Safety Policies and Procedures: Work closely with department managers to support the development of specific safety policies, procedures, job standards, and programs.
• Promote Workplace Wellness: Contribute to initiatives that promote wellness within the workplace.
• Administer Contractor Management Policy: Support Project Managers and area owners in administering the contractor management policy and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Ensure Compliance with Safety and Health Policies: Assist in ensuring that all health, occupational, and environmental safety policies and legal regulations are followed.
• Support Integrated Management Systems Compliance: Help ensure adherence to the Company's Integrated Management Systems, which includes aspects such as Production, Quality, Food Safety, and GMP.
• Perform Additional Duties as Needed: Carry out additional tasks as directed to support the safety team.
Profile
• University degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is preferred
• Occupational health & safety certification (such as OSHA 30-hour, OSHA Certs, CPR, etc.) is preferred.
• 1-3 years experience in workplace safety related position is required.
• Prior experience in Food Manufacturing industry is required.
• Experience in Workers’ Compensation claims management is required.
• Strong communicator and proven ability to be a mentor.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
• Strong hazard recognition skills and analytical skills.
