Annual Salary Range: $48,204 – $72,468
Looking for an opportunity to work with a collaborative diverse team in Tennessee State government? Interested in protecting our environment, public health, and water quality? The Division of Water Resources has a position in our Johnson City Environmental Field Office (EFO) working with our great team as well as with other EFO staff and directly with the regulated community. An employee may perform a full range of environmental contact for a varied customer base that requires a subsurface sewage disposal permit in areas where public sewer is not available.
We are seeking a candidate who practices excellent customer service and who can effectively communicate with a diverse internal and external customer base. Preferred candidates will possess strong time management and organizational skills. The position requires fieldwork. Preference may be given to candidates with an Environmental Science degree and/or professional environmental experience. Preferred bachelor’s degrees include environmental science, biology, physical sciences, or other related environmental science fields. Highlighted Responsibilities:
- Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of rules governing Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems.
- Conducts daily technical work, including inspections, complaint investigations, and application review, permit review, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Accurately complete all Construction and Installation Inspection Reports for Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems and all Environmental Investigative Reports within designated time frames.
- Writes clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings (emails, letters, inspection documentation), to a varied audience.
- May be required to assist additional division wide programs, as requested by management, to support the mission of the Agency and Division.
- This position requires field work in rural areas, construction sites, and in all weather conditions.
