Intern, Paramount Theatre

Nature of Work:

The Paramount Theatre Internship provides an opportunity to learn about the planning, execution and

implementation of Paramount Theatre’s venue operations and event operations. Interns will participate in the day-to-day operations of the Paramount Theatre, assist with various event night responsibilities, employee training, and help with new Paramount Theatre initiatives. The Paramount Theatre intern should have strong communication, organization and time management skills, possess a desire to learn about event management and venue management and be available some nights and weekends.

Examples of work performed:

· Responds to FAQ’s received via Paramount Theatres email hotline, escalates issues to

appropriate venue contacts.

· Assist front of house managers with duties on an event night, including the advance of those duties prior to the event and leading the usher/security and concession teams through ingress, the event and egress, while working closely with production/back of house, and safety, to ensure a well-executed event.

· Inspects dressing rooms, VIP rooms, and other various areas in Paramount Theatre

· Coordinates Paramount Theatres lost and found initiatives by facilitating guest pick up and accurate reporting of items found in event software

· Assist venue management team in completing various venue projects.

· Develops and maintains relationships and works closely with KSE partner companies: Argus, Legends, Rhino, Brown Note, etc. to complete projects for the benefit of the venue and client needs.

· Observes the customer service skills of vendor staff to help ensure compliance with agreements, reports observations to the event management team.

· Participates in internal and external training programs for regular and part time employees

· Attends KSE intern events

· Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

· General office equipment including copier, fax, phone, computer/keyboard, etc.

· General proficiency in various computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, Internet, etc., highly preferred.

· Two-way radio.

· Stand, walk up to ¾ of the time on an event day

· Medium to high stress situation ¼ of the time

· Fast pace working environment ¾ of the time

· Exposure to outdoor weather conditions up to ¼ of the time

· Moderate to very loud noises

· Lift up to 25 lbs up to ¼ of the time

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED, required.

· BS/BA degree, preferred.

· One to two years’ experience working with box office personnel, event marketing personnel,

event accounting personnel and event operations personnel, preferred.

All Colorado Interns are required to attend all KSE Internship Program hosted events that occur during business hours. If unable to attend due to work, school or unforeseen circumstance, the Intern must inform the Internship Program Committee.

 

All Interns are required to participate in the KSE Mentorship Program by meeting with the assigned Mentor in person or virtually at least for the initial meet-up.

 

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Solid knowledge of concert, entertainment production, event execution, general theater and arena operations, and vendor processes.

· Working knowledge of generally accepted standards of event management, customer service and problem resolution.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, fellow employees, and vendors.

· Strong self-starter capabilities to sell, market and enhance the industry image for Paramount Theatre

· Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

· Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and meet company

vehicle driving standards.
