Police Intern
The Lakewood Police Department is accepting applications for two internships to be filled in Summer 2025. Applicants can expect to have work weeks of 15-25 hours to be completed on varying days and times, and on a schedule designed to meet the department's needs along with those of the interns.
Interns will shadow, observe, and assist the different units of the police department, including the patrol division, dispatch, corrections, detective bureau, and SWAT team. They will also have a departmental project assigned to them, and assist in administrative tasks and community events.
The volunteer internship will last 8-12 weeks sometime between May and August, depending on the academic and scheduling needs of the intern.
Applicants should have an interest in local law enforcement as a career, and also must be currently enrolled an accredited college or university with at least two semesters completed as a full-time student.
Once a candidate's interest has been received via Handshake, the department will reach out to candidates to complete the application process.
