Kinship/Foster Care Trainer
The Montgomery County Department of Social Services is seeking a Kinship/Foster Care Trainer. This position will participate in recruitment efforts and training families for foster parenting through PRIDE, the state-approved curriculum for Foster Care and Kinship Families. The position will provide oversight of the 50+ foster families to maintain certification and stay in compliance with Virginia State policy, as well as Federal and State guidelines for funding, working with both Services and Benefit staff. The position will also explore opportunities for funding for support programs for Kinship/Foster/Adoptive families. Organize donations and resources for clients, specifically for foster children, but also for current MCDSS clients, elderly, and unhoused citizens. The position will be responsible for the annual renewal of all Adoption Medicaid cases. Complete IV-E Foster care paperwork for children and youth entering foster care.
The customary schedule is M-F 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with some evening hours for training and meeting with potential foster families, as required by policy.
A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human service field is preferred; College experience with 5+ years of experience working with children and families through social services will be considered. A valid Virginia driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required.
