Content Creator (Social Media & Video) – 5 Month Contract Position

Position Summary:
The content creator is responsible for developing and executing engaging digital content that aligns with Points of Light’s mission to inspire and activate volunteers. This role focuses on creating short-form videos, social graphics, and compelling copy to connect with our brand audience, with a special focus on our Gen Z audience, to drive engagement across social media platforms.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, digital trendspotter, and skilled short-form content producer with a deep understanding of social media best practices, visual design, and short-form video editing. Additionally, a comfort level being on camera on occasion to create video content and represent points of light. Finally, the candidate understands how to craft content that resonates with younger audiences, and can bring fresh, innovative ideas to social storytelling. 

This remote position allows flexibility but requires availability during Points of Light’s working hours, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET.  The position requires 15 to 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) that brings volunteering to life.
  • Design visually compelling graphics in Canva that align with our brand and message.
  • Be on camera! Bring energy and authenticity to content by occassionally appearing in videos that connect with a Gen Z audience and show case Points of Light’s mission and work.
  • Develop creative social media content that makes volunteering feel relevant, exciting, and shareable.
  • Stay on top of trends. Identify and jump on potential viral moments, sounds, and challenges to boost engagement.
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm fresh ideas, align messaging, and elevate our content strategy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2-5 years of experience in content creation for social media (internships or personal experience okay).
  • Strong video editing skills (CapCut, Adobe, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Canva for designing engaging social assets.
  • Comfortable being on camera with an engaging, relatable presence.
  • Deep understanding of Gen Z culture, trends, and social media platforms.
  • Passion for volunteering and social impact.

Core Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft high-impact social content.

Deep understanding of social media best practices for executive branding, thought leadership, and engagement strategies. 

Ability to navigate fast-paced environments, meet occasional tight deadlines and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Proficiency in content management tools. Points of Light uses Brandwatch which is similar to Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.

Knowledge of AP Style is preferred.
