Summary:                    The Intern provides ongoing Technical Support to the production department as well as primary support for Environmental Regulatory Compliance.  Due to the size of the facility the Intern will be called upon to be involved in multiple aspects of the mill management.

This role will: 

  1. Utilize tools such as statistical analysis, data visualization and machine learning.
  2. Tracks web analytics and identifies trends.
  3. Develop and maintain dashboards and reports.
  4. Use statistical techniques to interpret data.
  5. Design systems and databases for data analysis. 
  6. Clean, collect and analyze data to turn it into meaningful information. 
  7. Provide technical support to the manufacturing team.
  8.  Translate results into non-technical language for team members. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe working environment in all interactions with personnel as well as personally following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Improve the reliability of the process control systems. This includes the DCS system as well as level, pressure and consistency control systems.
  • Day to day operation of the wastewater treatment facility.
  • Initially performing the testing and data entry functions for the Environmental Compliance.
  • Obtain quotes for equipment and/or services.
  • Input and/or review production inventory into production database to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Responsible for documenting and communicating all issues to the Mill Superintendent
  • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance issues with their direct report.
  • In collaboration with Mill Superintendent, compose and follow through on all necessary paperwork/documentation.
  • Protect company property and address emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Implemented good housekeeping throughout the facility.
  • Treat others with dignity and respect.
  • Set good examples of adhering to all time and attendance rules (be at work at the beginning of scheduled shift and remain until the end of your scheduled shift and/or when properly relieved unless communicated otherwise by your direct report.

 

Qualifications:              The requirements listed below are conditions of employment and/or representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  1. Legal Authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone.
  2. Applicants must pass a 10-panel drug screen.

Alcohol and Marijuana usage during working hours is prohibited. Employees under the influence during working hours will be subjected to drug and/or alcohol testing. 

  1. Applicant must give authorization to a background check.
  2. Perform all duties in a professional, productive manner, with emphasis on Quality, Safety, and Business Ethic’s Policies.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, or other engineering discipline.
  4. Process Control and web handling knowledge.
  5. Fundamental understanding of ancillary technologies associated with design and manufacturing of product within paper mills.
  6. Excellent analytical skills required.
  7. Computer knowledge of Microsoft office and CAD.
  8. Strong planning and organizing skills.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced team setting.
  10. Ability to work and think independently.
  11. Ability to assume a leadership role when needed on a project.
  12. Must exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  6. Works under the direction of the Engineering Manager and Director of Operations.

  1. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  2. The employee frequently is required to: stand, walk, bend and reach (both above and below the shoulder).
  3. The employee is occasionally required to: climb, push, or pull items.
  4. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to: use both hands, talk, hear and see.
