Under direct supervision of a specified Unit Manager, assists in performing duties as assigned in accordance with the student’s educational program and the needs of the unit to which the student is assigned; and to perform related duties as assigned. Assists in varied assignments such as technical/professional work, research, analysis, and other duties as assigned.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Performs routine work pertinent to the subject area to which assigned such as administration, natural resources, environmental education, community outreach, parks advocacy, parks planning, construction and maintenance, equestrian, and leisure services.
- Specific work assignments depend on the terms of the student’s educational program and the unit to which the student is assigned. Examples of work to be performed in each division or area include:
- Community Outreach- content creation for websites, social media, and print materials; digital asset management; special event assistance
The video content intern will be responsible for researching, developing, and authoring quality video content for social and digital channels to promote a variety of projects and events undertaken by Polk County Conservation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to consistently adhere to channel strategies and deliver key messages throughout all video projects.
Responsibilities may include:
Regularly present ideas for content creation and collection
Efficiently research and collect data to support video storytelling
Capture video interviews and b-roll video to create and publish original content.
Edit raw video content to create compelling stories ranging in length from 20 seconds to 4 minutes.
Assist the Community Outreach team in developing and maintaining editorial/content calendars
Deliver tactical plans to repackage and merchandise existing video content elements across several
channels, including blogs, e-mail, websites, and social community sites (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,
Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
Assist in the archiving and tagging of video content assets for future use
Maintain an ongoing knowledge of current news, trends, and research related to Polk County
Conservation work
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of the concepts of the field to which the internship applies.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to apply knowledge gained through formal education to situations encountered in the work setting.
- Ability to operate equipment, machinery, computer/software, office equipment, etc. as needed.
Training and Experience
- Enrollment at a post-secondary school in coursework relevant to the duties of the unit to which assigned.
