Community Engagement Internship - Department of Planning, Building & Development

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

This internship is funded by the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and will provide experience to an individual in the areas of community development, placemaking, urban and regional planning, economic development, event management, and marketing. Responsibilities range from community engagement activities, placemaking infrastructure management, event management, data collection, and assisting with innovative placemaking programming.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 
• Engage with community members, visitors, and businesses within the Albert EL Fresco area.
• Facilitate and manage events.
• Host Game Nights in Albert EL Fresco. 
• Execute data collection activities.
• Assist with brainstorming placemaking programming and activities. 
• Maintain placemaking infrastructure (e.g., setup/breakdown, cleaning, etc.).
• Assist with implementing placemaking activities, including pop-up events and other public space activation strategies.
