Student Intern Office Assistant – University Marketing
The Office of University Marketing is seeking a Student Assistant to support daily office operations and provide administrative support to the leadership team.
This position reports to the Administrative Assistant Team (Admin Team), with the direct supervisor being the Senior Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
In addition to administrative responsibilities, this role offers opportunities to explore areas of marketing, which may include projects for TXST’s flagship social media accounts, as well as digital, print, video, and photo initiatives.
Employee Evaluation Process
Student employees are evaluated by their direct supervisor at the end of each long semester using the Career Readiness Competency Evaluation form. This process encourages reflection and development across key professional skill areas, and includes both self-assessment and supervisor feedback.
Payrate Determination
All student employees begin at the department's standard starting pay rate. Increases may be considered after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment, contingent upon positive performance evaluations conducted by the supervisor.
Responsibilities include:
- Answering, transferring, and screening phone calls
- Greeting office guests and directing them to the appropriate individuals or departments
- Performing general office tasks such as filing, data entry, shredding, scanning, and copying
- Managing incoming mail and distributing it as needed
- Assisting with inventory tracking and supply requests
- Supporting procurement card log management
- Coordinating regularly with the Admin Team on office supply needs
- Delivering items and correspondence to on-campus locations
- Assisting with meeting coordination and logistics
- Meeting assigned deadlines
- Responding to emails within 24 hours
- Actively participating in team communications and designated chat channels
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be awarded Federal Work-Study
- Must be available to begin work as soon as possible
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion
- Willingness to learn and take on new projects
- Punctual, dependable, and conscientious
- Strong attention to detail
