Seasonal Sales Associate

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for helping customers in the store and outdoors with questions and ring up sales. Additionally, as time allows and as directed, team member will be responsible for our tasks including, but not limited to, weeding, up potting, watering plants, reporting greenhouse concerns, maintenance issues, etc. They will receive inventory and verify as directed, clean and stock shelves, take inventory, and advise on potential items to order and if there are any special customer requests. Position is seasonal and tasks may be more specifically directed depending on sale season.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities to include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding service.
  • Establish and maintain positive customer relations.
  • Ensure products are put out in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain plant health by correct care and placement as directed, requiring such tasks as watering, leading, potting, fertilizing, or moving to different locations.
  • Clean and organize store and products as directed.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete sales transactions and maintain proper accountability for the register.
  • Be a team player who seeks to follow the mission of the organization and support others in the same manner.
  • Answer the phone in a prompt and professional manner, and ensure detailed messages are taken.
  • Offer help and accurate information to customers and answer all questions as needed.
  • Seek assistance from the Nursery Manager and/or Owner if you have questions.
  • Promote products offered in a positive and informative way, seeking to provide additional options for customers to increase total sales.
  • Assist with any ad hoc requests as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Basic plant knowledge or the willingness to learn about plants and gardening previous related experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and must be teachable.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven individual who is detail-oriented and resourceful.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform the essential functions of the job which include, but are not limited to, bending, stooping, lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with assistance, repetitive motions, and working in hot/cold weather conditions.
