Social Worker-Program Coordinator

Summary:

Social work position responsibilities include: coordinate support groups; provide social work services to local synagogues and unaffiliated Jewish population; provide employment support services; provide information, referral and connections; assist with special projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

Job Description:

· Complete support group intake assessments, schedule and form support groups; communicate with session workers and participants as needed;

· Provide information and referrals to community services and other providers;

· Maintain referral list of community and social service resources, employment resources and refer clients as appropriate;

· Maintain relationships with current partner synagogues; outreach to non-partner synagogues to develop new partnerships;

· Provide consulting and referral services to partner synagogues, their professional staff and membership;

· Link clients to SYJCC support services;

· Maintain records and statistics of community and individual contacts and events for grant reporting;

· Complete required grant reports as required by funding agencies;

· Perform outreach to those in Suffolk County who are unemployed, underemployed, or considering a change in career;

· Screen potential clients; assess for employment-related and other counseling and social service needs, make appropriate connections and referrals;

· Design and implement employment services workshops and speakers

· Maintain a database of active participants in support groups, employment services, and recipients of products/services;

· Support pantry activities including community food and special drives, holiday collections and coordinating synagogue initiatives to support the pantry;

· Assist with community event planning, outreach and coordination with synagogues;

· Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time position, flexible to needs of individuals and synagogues served. Work in SYJCC office with travel to area synagogues and other community-based locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience

· MSW required; licensure required

Knowledge and Skills:

· Experience working with all ages

· Experience with assessing client needs

· Familiar with local resources and services

· Strong organizational skills

· Strong writing skills

· Strong communication skills

· Able to use Microsoft Office and email

· Have own car for off-site commitments

· Able to sit, stand, write, drive use computer and phone

· Able communicate verbally

· Able to lift small parcels

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

  • Evening shift
