Student Marketing Assistant - Graphic Design

General:

The position of Student Marketing Assistant – Graphic Design is primarily responsible for assisting the College of Business (CoB) in the development and execution of creative pieces to be used to promote both the college and its academic programming. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Digital Content. You must be a student at The University of Akron. Graphic design or marketing majors preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Design promotion materials/advertisements for digital signage, print, web, social media, and special events for prospective students, current UA students, alumni, and the greater UA community. Materials include but are not limited to presentations, brochures, flyers, programs/booklets, digital signage and other collateral as needed.
• Correspond and coordinate with College of Business Marketing in addition to faculty and staff to understand the focus, priorities, and deadlines for projects.

Skill Requirements:

• Ability to develop design solutions from concept through production
• Strong typography skills, ability to create or source illustrations, photography and stock imagery
• Strategic thinking ability, desire to work in a collaborative environment and learn new skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
• “People person” who is confident and has a positive personality
• Strong organizational and time management skills are critical – must adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to learn quickly and manage workload in a cooperative and demanding environment

The CoB is looking for someone that can work roughly 5 hours per week to start, but could increase to 10-15hrs/week starting summer 2025.

The pay is $14/hr.
