Position Overview:
Community School of Davidson, a K-12 public charter school, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is a student-centered educator who fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for science through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. This teacher will create a dynamic classroom environment that integrates the North Carolina Science Standards with frequent hands-on labs and inquiry-based activities to deepen students’ understanding of scientific concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned science lessons that promote inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world connections.
  • Incorporate hands-on labs and interactive activities multiple times per week to enhance student learning.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Integrate technology and STEM practices to support student engagement and 21st-century skills.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the school community to support learning.
  • Participate in professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in Middle Grades Science (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Experience teaching middle school science, with a strong emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning.
  • Passion for project-based learning, inquiry-driven instruction, and student engagement.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
