
River Guide
- WWOC offers guided raft trips on the Hudson and Sacandaga River.
- The Hudson River Gorge trip is 17 miles and runs every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from Mid April to Columbus Day weekend. Trips go out once a day. Staff arrive at 8:00 am and the day ends around 4:00.
- To Guide on the Hudson River Gorge you must train with a NYS approved outfitter and obtain a NYS license to guide.
- Requirments are: Certified in CPR and 1st Aid, take at least 5 trips down the river with WWOC, take 2 written NYS exams and recieve a letter from WWOC stating the applicant has the training and ability to guide.
- Guides can expect 4 days a week guiding on the Hudson.
- The Sacandaga River trip runs from Memorial day to Labor Day. Trips run daily at 10, 12 and 2. The trip is 3.5 miles long and takes about 1.5 hours.
- Sacandaga Guide Requirements: Certified in CPR and 1st aid, show proof of skill in safely guiding a raft down the river.
- Sacandaga Guides can expect 4-5 days of work a week.
- It is possible to guide on both The Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers
- All guides will be responsible to provide personal PFD, paddle,throwbag, whistle and knife. WWOC will help to purchase gear at Pro Level pricing.
- WWOC offers training for both Rivers.
- All applicants will be expected to team assist organizing and loading all equipment needed.
- Must have good people skills and enjoy working with others.
